Not that I'm looking to buy or anything, but generally wondering what has happened to the price of Diablos?!?!

I could have sworn that they used to be cheaper?!

This one for example, €140k - 70,000KM

Check out the search results for yourselves;

Mobile.de Diablos

This one is by far my favourite though!! Shexxy!

... the values of most Diablos have become far greater in Europe relatively recently, especially in Germany afaik.

Most buyers in Europe don't expect a (10+ year old) Diablo to compete with a (much younger) Murciélago in like-for-like terms in the way (some) British owners seem to do and especially the way many, many non-owners in the UK imagine they must.

... what this means is that any lhd Diablo that's looking and running well and which is still in the UK will be sucked away to the continent soon, unless the UK makes an effort to raise the perceived value of any of the cars here.

More featured articles such as the C&SC article this month with the Evil Doctor Fish's chiaro blue beauty 2wd Diablo can only be for the best. If you have the needed funds to buy from among the best Diablos, (ANY spec!), buy now and whilst I'm duty bound to say so, they are only going to increase in value once the Murciélago replacement appears.

Also, fwiw, the owner of the only 'road-legal' Diablo GTR built by Sant'Agata may well be upping his asking price any day now, I'm sure. If the Diablo GT is at the very-mental end of the already relentlessly barmy Diablo range, this one-off completes the rusty-blunt-spoon lobotomy procedure with mind-trashing features such as helmets being recommended for even 'gentle' road use...

biggrin

David's right. When the time comes to move our Diablo on, there's a very good chance it will be to the continent. Being a LHD is an advantage in this respect, but the strong Euro and a healthy market would make a big, big difference to what ends up in our bank account.

That may sound a bit mercenary, and may be disappointing to any potential UK based purchasers, but as I work in the finance industry, when it comes to money matters sentimentality doesn't get a look in.

uk values seem all over the place currently, of the three se30's for sale two are priced 40k apart and a 6ltr is on the market at 65k, i'm watching closely as i may test the market with my sv next spring.
europe is definately taking all the lhd cars away, i drove an integrale to le mans this year and had two very strong offers above uk prices on the car whilst in france, if i wanted to sell it(and i definately don't)i'd advertise on the continent.

Thanks for the info, XVIII. I think I see what you're saying.

It's just weird how they have jumped so far, so recently.

And that GTR is far too fantastic for words! cloud9

Had a diablo roadster, nothing but trouble, in a word crude. Then bought a Murceilago roadster, what a refined car in comparison and better looking.

not a roadster fan myself but completely agree - the execution of the Diablo rosdster was not great (especially the finishing around the windscreen) and the Murci roadster is much better looking IMO

when the prices of both have narrowed so much I can't see many people opting for a Diablo roadster

would have been interesting if you had tried a Diablo 6.0 though as I don;t think you would have preferred the Murci - all IMHO

I'm unlucky enough to still own a diablo roadster and murci roadster, and I
completely agree with that. That said, the compromise in design of the diablo roadster was to enable a highly practical removeable roof solition.

Think that the retention truncated A-frame on the doors (the pillar in front of the side windows, but part of the door itself) is the mistake, and gives rise to some awkward rubbers too. This was fixed on the murci.

The complaints about the murci canvas roof are partly at the cost of the improved looks.

Think that is really true for the coupe options too. And is why diablo sales have slowed. Although when comparing the cheapest murci against the most expensive diablo will always make the gap seems narrower that it really is.

The gallardo is also the reason that diablo sales have slowed. Most people wanting "a lambo" generally buys one of these I guess these days. A diablo is more a niche market these days and probably bought by people that decided they wanted one ten years ago. smile

Is there no company that produces a removable hard top for the Murcielago roadster? Could swear I heard tell of a Swiss company who might have but never saw any evidence.

There are a few companies providing roof solutions for the Murci roadster.

If I remember correctly, the Swiss manufacturer uses Carbon Fiber and it costs around $21,000.
