Having recently moved to the Isle of Wight I noticed there wasn't much in the way of car meets here on the island so have created a forum at

http://iowcf.forumotion.com/

So if you are a petrolhead do join up so we can get some meetings and maybe some runs in the Spring/Summer together. Doesn't matter what you drive, but as long as you enjoy cars (or motorbikes).

Hope it's ok to advertise the forum here but if not, admin do remove and I will get leafleting wink

Hey there....

Whilst not quite on the Island (live in Southampton by the docks) I'm over on the Island fairly frequently due to having family there. I'm heading over tomorrow in fact for a couple of weeks over the xmas/new year period!

I'll get myself registered on your site though and will possibly be able to make it to any meets organised in the new year.

No doubt by now you'll have found out the delight that is the old military road on the southside of the Island wink

Great! The more the merrier!

Ahhhh yes, the Military Road.... I am living in Totland so do frequent that road. I think that is where I broke a rear spring on the car a couple of summers ago when on holiday.

Bumps - yes lots of them aren't there!! Bit of a killer in the car sometimes.

If the road condition was better, it'd be a bit of a southern PH mecca - brilliant long views, some hillclimbs and plenty of surf-worthy beaches.

there are bendy bits too..honest!

The road between Ventnor & Shanklin...When I was there, I felt like I was driving in the South of France. Never felt so good driving. Roof down of course, but the views, my god...It was heaven.

I found a road by accident a week ago. It started near Robin Hill Country Park and I ended up in Ryde and went through a place called Ashey. Was very high up at one point and had a lovely view of the island. A lot of the road had been resurfaced. Will have to go and seek that road out again one quiet morning...

Its been done mate! I moved off the island last year but still pop over for some of the car club events, when the bd car works. Middle Road was always my fave, pretty bloody dangerous though

Yes, saw that but couldn't find a forum and they didn't have any social car gatherings that I could see. Will attend one of their meets this coming year though.

Of course what that doesn't show is the 3rd World state of the roads......!!
Never been to a place with such crap surfaces - except for Malta that is.

Make sure you get to the car club events early so you can take part. smile There are car club pub nights too - usually the week before events.

I'm usually at the sealed surface events with my TVR. You won't finish last - that's my job. wink
