The way to save them is stop driving round in your 10 year old Saab and go out and Buy a brand new one from a dealer!

Problem is due to GM 'management' you'd effectively be buying the very same car, only uglier.

Well what are you trying to save then? If all your cars are old Saabs? Just have a forum for old cars!
