Whilst I would have also imagined they would go with Sauber now they are 'on their own' again, that colour scheme really appeals to me. smile On an unrelated note, I hope Sauber bring back their '90s' colours, the blue and the green, they brighten up the track!

I love the Petronas colour. It is really distinctive, and looks great on whatever it is sprayed on.

Petronas, Mercedes, Norbert Haug, Brawn, Sauber. Struggling to remember where everything fits of late!

That car just looks so 'right' a bit like the old 7up Jordan.

I hear there has already been an internal anouncment that they will not take part in F! in 2010, and that the FI logo is being taken of the business card as and when new ones are printed.

So much for the speculation that Mercedes would take the Mobil sponsorship with them to Brawn.

I wonder if Tan Sri made that (press) announcement to leverage a shot at the OEM lubes business?

From from www.f1sa.com 18/12/09: Responding to rumours that Mercedes would take Mobil and Boss sponsorship, Mercedes has told the Cologne newspaper Express that "we cannot take any sponsors from McLaren".

Boss had already been with McLaren for a decade prior to Mercedes's arrival, so that one never seemed at risk.
Mobil came to McLaren with Mercedes, replacing Shell, so that one seemed possible. One didn't know whether Mobil's contract was with McLaren or Mercedes.
Regardless of the extant contracts, it appears that part of the recent Decree of Judicial Separation was that Mercedes would be proscribed from accepting funding from any of McLaren's partners.
Petronas may have secured a deal to supply OEM lubricants for Mercedes vehicles, but one doubts that that brand will get a high-profile recommendation in the vehicles' English language owner's manuals.

this looks good, perhaps we have much watched cars or bikes with green petronas color in combination with black, so this looks better with Mercedes chrome/grayish...
