Etiquette advice from any Muslim PHers please
Discussion
Hi Folks,
I was after a bit of etiquette advice from any Muslims who frequent these halls...
Basically, I do most of my business in a Muslim country (Turkey) but I am not very clued up on how a non-Muslim should respect/mark the Muslim holidays.
As a for instance, my Muslim colleagues are great at sending us Christmas cards and Chocs, and I would like to respond in kind at the appropriate time/festival. Sadly, my ignorance means I dont know the form... any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks for your help

Sorry, must admit I thought the other thread was a little more serious than it transpired.
Tis a tricky one, I grant you.
Turkey is secular is it not? Am not saying that has any huge bearing but might they be more "understanding" than the situation suggests.
Sounds silly, but what about contacting the British Council or the Brit Embassy in Istanbul?!
ETA...what I suggested was a bit OTT really....

I spent a year working closely with our plant in Turkey in my 1st job out of uni', it wasn't the minefeild you'd expect. I spent many weeks over their and they sent quality engineers here for extended periods that I worked with daily.Tis a tricky one, I grant you.

Just be nice, I made a few mistakes but they didn't care really and we just had a laugh about it.
Were abouts in Turkey are they? Turkey is a big place and location can affect the etiquette quite alot apparently, in the north they are alot more secular.

Always shake with your left hand, at meetings always put your feet on the table with soles facing the Turks, and always have pork scratching handy! Oh, and lots of booze!
(Or is it the other way round?.............)
Kind of like the thing I heard recently where the local Jewish community are going to a Halal butcher as its the closest thing to Kosher for miles around. (Like something out of The Apprentice!)
