Looking out the window here (near) Oxford and its pretty much as dark as it will get tonight. Sunset is officially 15:57.

The countdown to winter ends, while the countdown to summer begins.

Yes, I'm using the term 'Summer' loosely.

I wonder how much the difference is from one end/side of the country to the other?

How light is it in Kent right now?

And Cumbria?

Anyone?

It snowed this morning and apart from that it hasn't snowed since saturday afternoon but it's been really dark early recently.

The sunset at 15.45 in Glasgow today according to my iPhone app thingy.

Sun rises at 8.48 tommorow morning.frown

Make up for it in the Summer though, when it seems some nights it hardly gets dark.

I heard on my car radio that a load of pagans from Ipswich were going into the woods tonight to leave gifts for trees and animals. Something to do with this being the Winter Solstice or something. fk that for laugh. I'm going home to a nice warm house, a few pints of beer and a packet of pork scratchings.

I'd be on my way home from work (assuming you're there) if I was you.

In Newbury its really heavily snowing and the roads are chaos. Can only imagine its going to head your way.

Not a lot of people know this but the mornings will continue to get darker by about 10 mins until about the 6th Jan and then the sunrise time will start to get sooner again.

I've just arrived home after seeing the sunrise and sunset at Avebury. Happy solstice/Yule those celebrating today.
