Have looked on Halfrauds, Argos, Toys aren't Us, B&Q and can't find a plastic sledge to reserve on-line. Really not going trekking round the shops on the off chance? Needs to be suitable for a 4 and 2 yo

Any ideas, north Sheffield if any locals have any ideas?

Judging by stock availability, snow has taken retailers by surprise too!

I've just seen a delivery of 3 pallets of the moulded plastic ones go into a B&Q near me, so they may be an option near you.

I obtained mine from a couple of teenage scrotes who threw snowballs at the car last year. I stopped and they legged it, leaving their sledges behind, so I took them!

I was just going to be sarcastic and recommend Abbeydale DIY on Abbeydale Rd and then saw you were actually IN Sheffield! Its not north but they always seem to have some in.

I've seen some children using a baby's bath tub as a makeshift sledge, even getting a lad on his mountain bike to take it back up the hill. Most enterprising smile

My kids just used two plastic tea trays, they had just as much fun as if they had had a proper sledge. From my childhood I seem to recall that carrot sacks are ace too if you have any about yes

When we were kids we used metal trays from the pub.

I saw a stack of them (plastic) in Cotswold Outdoor the other day in Gloucestershire, they have a branch in Leeds, is that near Sheffield?

Tel: 0113 2450879

Just checked Google maps, they also have a branch in Bakewell 01629 812231

Local low-end ski shop had a sign out this morning saying they were having 500 delivered this afternoon, deposits taken for 400 so far!! And it's raining this afternoon and there's a fair old thaw underway.....

I'm thinking of modifying one of my old snowboards for a trip to the local "big hill" tommorow... bit of rope bolted to the binding holes should do the trick! smile

Tut... What is it with kids / Dads today... Haven't you got a few bits of wood to knock together?

That was half the fun when I was a kid - making the sledge first and seeing who could make theirs fastest...

I need a palstic sledge, not a plastic wedge.... will try B&Q at lunchtime!

And yes, to whomever said make one, I would love to, but am working all hours right now and garage is full of rubbish, not enough room to swing a mouse, let alone cat!
