There will be a new bike resting in my house soon. How do I protect the frame from cable rub and exposed areas from paint chips?

Helicopterike tape or bike shield - £19.99 for a kit from your LBS.

You'll need to replace the shield eventually as it starts to look unsightly after a while but it's good stuff, looks less good on white frames.
