Hi all

am I right in thinking that there is such a thing as a 350i engined FHC??

And if so, where do I find one?

Ive been wrangling over what to buy for a few months now and nothing seems to float the boat, well apart from the boat that I looked at, and I really do need to buy another TVR before the wife squanders all my cash on 'stuff' that is apparently needed for 2 year old girls!!!

Actually, the 2 year old is the reason for thinking of the Fixed Head so she can come out for a ride too!

Any ideas and indeed suggestions on a 4 seater with a V8 thats useable with a rug rat?

Hi Stu you are quite correct there was indeed a 350i FHC only problem they are rarer than choclate fireguards as there were only 6 (AFAIK) built and its a fair bet that 2 or 3 of those may have gone to the great parts bin in the sky - but willing to be told otherwise if anyone knows better?
As for TVR V8 with 4 seats the only other option would be a Cerbera 4.5 AJP but thats in a whole different running cost bracket.
Good luck with your quest.

Yes they only made 6 2+2 V8 fixed heads, so extreeeeemly rare. 'Shmig' on here has recently restored a white one. wink

I lost out to Steve on ebay by £6!!! on that one. Really fancied it for the same reasons... lower costs, kids and something really special..
Steve, are there any photos about of the car now?

Thanks guys.

I thought they were pretty rare!

I had considered the cerb route, but due to potential running costs, decided aginst it.

I suppose I could go for a really old,,,,,,,,,
Hmmmmmmmm, was gonna write porsche but its not going to happen..

Im kinda stumped now, maybe itll have to be a wedge after all, and the wife can follow in the oil burner.

Does it have to be a v8? There are probably a few more 2.8 2+2's around.

I was concerned by the comments about the Efi system on the 2.8, albeit some were made in jest!
Not overly concerned, but enough to think that the 3.5 would be the way.

The 2.8 didn't have Efi, technically it was Mfi (mechanical fuel injection). Still goes wrong, though...

This one was pointed out to me, but think I'd have to put a Cossie 2.9 in or a 302 Ford. - And it's a bit dear. smile

Tried the link Graham, and i am sure it works but i think Carol has put a block on Autotrader, and classic cars for sale and pistonheads classifieds.

I cant help thinking the 280 on auto trader is a bit expensive.

It may well be in excellent condition and have no rust on the chassis at all which would obviously command a good price.

ill have to go and look at it to find out I suppose.

yes Seeing is believing.

Consider what else you can get for £2.5-3,000 of that rarity though...not a lot.

Have you been to see it Graham???

Would be interested in some feedback if you have!

I still think my budget is going to be between 2 and 2.5k, but we shall see.
