Hi!
Can anyone out there tell me (or show)the difference between the S2 chassis and the wider track V8S? Where did they brace, and how did they achieve the wider track?...are the trailing arms/wishbones different?

are there any differences of note?

i jusy thought they raised the rear trailing arm pick ups for more anti squat and widened the wishbones and rear trailing arms?

Hi Dave,
I am just about to embark on a body-off restoration, so whilst everything is apart, I would like to uprate everything possible. I've just bought an XR4x4 for the engine(possible gearbox??), rear diff and brakes etc. I've only owned the S2 12 weeks, and driven it about 6 times, not including the 50 miles home.
PS Were you sleeping on your PC? You took about 20 secs to answer!!

Hi Joos!
Can I buy the wider track wishbones/trailing arms? What about the drive shafts? How much wider is the V8S?
(What a load of questions!!)

I always though they must have changed the trailing arm geometry because the V8S handles so much better than the S2, but when Jason Watkins and I compared our cars side by side we couldn't see any difference in the trailing arm mounting points. They were identical to within at least 1/4 inch.

i have a cheap scruffy S2 chassis in my garden which needs outriggers etc, ideal for grafting on your 4x4 set up then just put the body straight on.

What is the difference(track) between S2 trailing arm and the V8S?

Added bracing in the engine bay and generally througout the chassis. Rear suspension was modded by fitting Disc brakes instead of drums and this helped get the wider tracking. Front wishbones modified as well. Trailing arms were played with as well. As for modding an s2 chassis to a V8S one... well first issue could well be the bodywork not fitting correctly. They are two seperate and distinct bodies and chassis.
Might be worth fitting the rear discs but I don't see the point of anything else.
