christmas wrapping
Discussion
"It was December 24th on Hollis Ave after dark
When I see a man chilling with his dog in the park
I approached very slowly with my heart full of fear
Looked at his dog, oh my God, an illin' reindeer
But then I was illin' because the man had a beard
And a bag full of goodies, 12 o'clock had neared
So I turned my head a second and the man had gone
But he must have dropped his wallet smack down on the lawn"
Oh, wrapping you say...

I start every year with good intentions and then slowly perfect the 'cracker'. Which those not in the know is wrap the main body and then just scrunch the ends to make it look like a cracker and wrap the celotape on. Kind of looks like you have made effort but secretly you really haven't.

I've just started to attempt this. I have two that have worked. At tiny little present that i've just thrown it round and it didn't look too bad. Then a cd, there easy. But i have one awkward shaped box and then a normal box that have me stumped. Thank god my mates coming round to help.

Always leave mine till Xmas eve, partly from habit, partly from sheer idleness.
same here, though the reason being i nver do my xmas shopping until xmas eve. Dad: charcoal.
Mum: flowers
Sis: Magic Tree
Bil: pint of anti freeze.
this year its:
dad: nowt
mum: nowt
sis: i do have a spare vanilla magic tree, but nowt
bil: nowt
uncle: bottle of single malt
did offer to buy/make dinner but presents are out due to redundo. the malt is my leaving gift from work.
Mrs slopes had all ours bought and wrapped by the end of september, only had to buy her a couple of things and wrap them myself, but i had that task completed by 10th november, so just chilling waiting for the binmen to complain at the amount of wrapping paper that we get rid of after christmas.
Fecking nightmare now the kids are that bit older!
The wife and I both have a day off work to wrap everything then hide it all back in the loft.
Come Christmas Eve they go to the local Church Carol Service leaving me to then get everything from the loft and stow it into the garage. When the kids are then safely tucked up in bed we then bring everything into the house!
How I've never missed bringing anything down from the loft is a complete mystery to me!

Awww, that gives me the warm and fuzzies thinking about that, all that effort gone into making christmas special for the kids is awesome! The wife and I both have a day off work to wrap everything then hide it all back in the loft.

Call me weird, but I enjoy wrapping, and can actually do it quite well. I even do the silvery ribbon stuff.
Some things can be a bit of a pain (such as the vases I've bought my sister), but boxes are very easy.
Last year I made the mistake of buying glitter paper that the tape didn't stick to (not doing that this year!). I also sprinkled stars on the inside of the wrapping to make the presents more interesting - which really annoyed my brother's wife, as she had to clean up after my nephews (I really didn't mean any malice; just didn't think about it).
