Nope, not a plea for assistance over the holiday period wink

I've turned up to work today, to find myself the only one out of 80 or so who has bothered so far. I leave relatively close, but it took me 45 mins to get the car off the driveway.

We have recently been ordered to not work from home and my boss has told a colleague he can't visit his brother in Herefordshire tomorrow but should work from the office.

1) Why did I bother?
2) What can I get up to?

We've got a grand total of 7 people from about 70 in our department today. The building holds about 1000 people and there is probably 200 people in.

In the office I am currently working at, about 5 people in out of a good 40 or so usually.

It took me two hours to get in using public transport. Set off at 5.30am, in at 7.30am, usually takes me 12 minutes by car / bike.

2 out of about 10 in the office today.
Funny thing is we live in the middle of the country & our steep driveway was iced up & so was our country road.
Yet we still managed to get in.
Everyone else who lives on main roads magically can't get in.
Bunch of skiving wkers.

At least you could get in when you got there.

I've been walking to work to save the hassle of dealing with snow and ice on the car soI got up nice and early and walked in, only to find the doors locked.

An hour later someone finally turned up with a key, thankfully there was another guy that drove here waiting so I sat in his car, otherwise we might have had an interesting new snowman on the doorstep.

I got to my station in rural Kent to find all trains cancelled, so I drove into Central London and got to work early...

Yes, t'is the same at our place too. Some people miraculously get "snowed in" over night, even though the area they live in hasn't had any actual snow for 3 days now. Its just the frozen remnants of the previous heavy snowfall. It's taking me over an hour to do a 25 minute journey each day, but I seem to be making it in...

Where do you work?

Sussex is clear at the moment, roads are good but some bits of black ice... seen a few accidents this morning.

My whole office has been in every day, which i've been surprised by!

Empty office and being alone sounds like fun but i bet it isn't!

Couldn't be arsed to de-ice the car this morning so I walked in.

I work at the MOD where there are usually around 8000 people on site. The place is dead...

We have about 95% of staff in. And will do tomorrow. No rest for the wicked (which is apt, being a Hedge Fund hehe).

I managed the drive from Pangbourne to Woking no problem - only our lane was like a skating rink, all other roads nice and clear/gritted.

Amazingly, some people who live nearer than me "can't get in" - O Rly??

To the OP - why not amuse yourself by forwarding each desk's phone to the one next to it until you have a circle of them all self-forwarding? (Yes I know it's childish, that's the point!)
