I make a pretty mean chilli and I was looking at a recipe online to see how other people makes there's and I noticed one of them had put a piece of chocolate in theirs. Many people commented on how nice it was and that they will do it from then on but I'm not to sure and I don't want to ruin a perfectly good chilli when my family come over tomorrow. Has anyone else done it, is it really that nice?

I always put good quality Dark chocolate in mine (about 25g for a chilli for 4), and everybody who tries it seems to like it. Plenty of Cinnamon as well, I put too much in by mistake once it was even better than normal, so I do it all the time now!

Has to be dark chocolate; 70%+. A few chunks fo CDM aren't going to cut it.

I followed a recipe that had decent dark chocolate added as well a full
can of lager.

It was lovely!

Yea I do the chorizo too, definitely makes it better. Not heard of the cinnamon though, don't think I've tried it either.

Chocolate, cinnamon and chorizo?
ANyone have any recipes? I've been making the same old chilli for years so maybe it's time for a change...

Not too much though - i tried it and put something like 4 squares in for 4 people and it was slightly too much i think - more like 2 was needed.

As well as chilli powder, I also add chilli flakes and nando's peri peri extra hot. Oh and chilli kidney beans

I use a teaspoon of cocoa powder rather than chocolate. Cinnamon is a must. Not tried Chorizo, will have to give it a go, as my chilli receipe is always evolving!

I'm not a fan of too much cinamon, doesn't need a lot. I put dark powdered coco in.

A teaspoon of good quality cocoa powder is the way to go.

A square of good quality dark chocolate per bowl, for me. And I use coriander seed, cumin, and de-seeded red chillies.

NB. This only works with beef; if you are forced into making a lentil version for a vegetablist it'll ruin it. So, feel free. thumbup

I have made chilli before with bournville chocolate. To be honest it didn't seam to make much of a difference. I now put red wine into it instead.

I don't think I'd ever put chocolate in a CCC. I'm happy with the taste without a twist myself.

If you have no chocolate a couple of cups of espresso works as well
