Something factual vs. "treacherous and you're going to die if you live anywhere in the UK" would be grand.

Met Office seems the most obvious? Curiously the forecast on the BBC weather site seems to totally contradict their "reporting".

The BBC site also changes from hour to hour on occasion.

Makes me laugh, we can not really predict the weather with any great accuracy, but can predict exactly what is going to happen with all the global warming rolleyes

The BBC site is totally unreliable, as you say it changes massively.

metcheck is the only one the sea fishermen use up here in the West Highlands. They have good reason to use the best!

I use BBC, Metcheck and MetOffice.

Rarely are they the same.

My wife is obsessed with the weather, and is pretty accurate over a couple of days...perhaps I should do a daily weather report from her hehe

This. It takes altitude into account, which is rather relevant for me since I live at the top of the North Downs. This (and last) winter, snowfall was predicted to the hour.

Have you ever watched the BBC TV weather while having the BBC weather text pages open on the red button and the BBC website weather page open on the laptop? ( Yes, I'm very sad ) They NEVER agree with one another. I live 2.5 miles from the bloody Met center, how hard can it be!

I used to work with the Met Office some time ago.

It is odd how most of the forecasts are different, as most of the data comes from the Met Office.

Some of the data is probably professionally interpreted by its forecasters.

I would love to be a weather forecaster. To put it in terms of my industry, imagine turning up and doing a crap carpet job 60% of the time, and massively overcharging from the original quote for the "wrong type of carpet" and keep getting repeat business.... Awesome...

Really? It is far more accurate than say, BBC Weather. Also the explanations of the science behind long-range forecasting are interesting too.

Yeah. I once met the man behind the "Solar Weather Technique". Interesting chap hehe.

Thanks, Netweather looks pretty well regarded. I'm just getting sick of BBC and Sky New trying to put the fear of god (vs. a healthy respect) into me about getting to work tomorrow (Tamworth area).

XCweather is quite good too, uses live data from airports etc, a lot lot better than the awful BBC & Met Office websites too

However I've always rated Netweather too

Yes, another vote for http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ here - good detail & prediction by individual weather stations
