Hi all!

I washed and waxed my beast four weeks ago and it's been tucked up safe and warm in the garage ever since.....just can't face bringing it out on these manky, salty roads.

As I've kinda hinted at previously, I'm completely taken by this car.....just luvin it. I really have no desire for any other car, apart maybe for some mad, bad Evo....spent an afternoon in the new GTR recently.....fab, but you need to drive it like you stole it (like an Evo on steroids!) to appreciate its talents/capabilities.....it's boring at legal speeds. The M5 is far more challenging and rewarding to drive though, even within legal speeds under certain conditions....I'm very sure of that and therefore it remains firmly my car of choice......a superb all-rounder.

Any other M-cars hibernating?

How do you cope with the winter months??

Cheers

Jazzer

The M6 is hibernating under a car cover on my driveway, the M5 gets used every day, whatever the weather.

Mine will be used frequently, although I must admit that due to the ridiculous conditions of the roads around here recently I've been erring on the side of the old AWD Legacy. Today doesn't look too bad, just the remnants of ice but still quite slippy... MMmmm perhaps a short spin might be in order later on scratchchin

My M5 is my "conditions too stty for the Aston" car. biggrin

With winter tyres, and spikesspiders in the boot, it can go anywhere.

My M3 has been sleeping under about 4 inches of snow this week on the driveway. Took it out today - wish I'd been driving it all week!

I bet it couldn't. wink

Only 1 car left chez nous to escape the 'stead and it genuinely requires combos of hill descent/low ratio settings, etc.

I know people go on about it all being uncommon fine larks but this weather has been an unconscionable ball ache this week.

P.S. Actually, Zod san; wtf are 'spikespiders?' I feel a top tip heading this way...

My M5 is off the road until possibly March / April. For the winter months I drive an old Lexus uber barge. Moons ago had a Subaru Legacy 4x4 and also an RS2 which were 365 day cars. I can live without performance in the rain, cold and greasy roads and when the ditch beckons more than the garage.

If i was looking for performance in the winter months maybe a Mitsubishi Evo IX or and Evo VI. A Scooby 22B or a Litchfield conversion would also be up there. Just add winter tyres.

Mikele, what sort of farmer are you? An urban one? I've driven my M5 up some of the most treacherous mountain passes in Europe in deepest winter. Winter tyres and a set of Spikesspiders in the boot turn the car into a mountain goat.

The Tax ran out on my M3 at the end of November, its staying tucked away in its nice dry garage until the spring. Will start it up and wash it down now and then on the nicer days, do miss the beast the beast though. Bought an old 328i saloon to get me through the winter.

Just add an RS6 instead.........M5 IS a good car, but let's get real ?
they are suited to Summer autobahn. Not, British Winter B road. We've
got a 3 litre AWD X-type that will do that job better.
Horses for courses, guys. Come on !
The RS6 is just too heavy and is NOT a great car imo. For bad weather a lighter car is more chuckable and for the money the Evo's and Scooby's are hard to beat for AWD cheap thrills.

Just couldn't resist a drive in the M5 on Xmas day.....lovely weather, sunny, cool.....and empty roads.....one of my favourite things in life....my Xmas treat for me every year.

Her indoors was annoyed though.....got back late for Xmas dinner!!

It actually has loads more grip in these conditions than I initially thought.....just needs a little repsect and gradual depression of the loud pedal!
