Thinking of going to have a look at this 348
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1991-Ferrari-348-TS-Targa-Ro...
The only bad point that i can see in the photos is that the side bolster of the drivers
seat seems to have sagged a bit. Is this something that is easily repairable?
Also what do you realistically think i can negotiate the price down to??

Well Carl, I will be the first to say the obvious... who ever did the last service or had the wheels off does not know Ferraris, or certainly not 348s. The rear wheels have been put on the wrong way around (they are directional for a reason, with the angled face should be on the tailing edge, not leading).
The car is also advertised at very strong money for a '91. Even in absolutely top condition, which this does not look to be, I personally would expect it to be around £25k.
The interior looks like it has a hard life. Why on earth would you take a picture of a worn out over mat for a start, but the seats do look like they have had some heavy wear which, given the lowish mileage and the fact that it went three years twice without much use (and no annual service) is a little surprising.
Having said that it would not cost too much in the big scheme of things to get the seats re-padded and re-connellised - I'm guessing between £500-£1000 for a top job but others may know better.
I'd like to see the condition of the engine bay but I would start at £23k and move up to maybe £24k.
Just my opinion, based on what I would value mine at which is in very very good condition, younger and mechanically spot on.
Be interesting to see his face when you tell him the wheels are on the wrong way round. I'll bet he looks at you as if you are mad

Thank you for the advice burriana. Yours looks a minter and well worth what you are asking for it but ideally i am looking for a RHD TS.
Didn't notice the wheels to be honest good spot.
I understand what you are saying about it being top money, but when you look at this one I'm not so sure

There is also a red TS for sale on the classsifieds here (which i have been considering going to see for a while), up for £26k, my only concern being that it has 54.5k miles on the clock. If I came to sell in a few years time, probably with over 70k on the clock then i may struggle.

I'm selling my 348 - it's a 93 TS in rosso over crema, fitted with 355 door panels and bumpers. Details can be found here: www.ferrari-348.info

Another example of someone not knowing the facts ... it is not a 1993, more like a '91! The first give away is the fact that it has a black horse rather than chrome on the rear grill which the earlier cars had ... then it says it is an "H" reg.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

You are paying significantly over the odds for the fact that it only has 6,000 miles. A waste of money if you are planning on driving it. Far better to pay fair market value for one that has been driven. 50,000 miles is nothing to these cars, they are far better when used.
I didn't actually mention a price for mine as I'm really not sure what to ask. Being LHD and with the exchange rate it will probably be snapped up by someone on the continent, but the chap that keeps it in fine fettle for me suggested £27k. I think closer to £25k would be more fair, but we'll see.

Very reluctantly I'm likely to be putting the GTC up for sale too ...
Not really Paul. It is down to a lifestyle change really, as I want to start spending more time doing family stuff rather than car stuff.
I will miss it like hell though, especially as they seem to be an appreciating asset at the moment.
My options are either selling the Ferrari and the BMW and getting one 2+2 such as an F456 or maybe an older Aston, or even a 911 ... or if I keep a weekend car, get one that Vicki would also enjoy using, again like a 911 or even, dare I say it, a Boxster
Be a shame to see your GTC go Paul.

You're reasons are similar to mine ... I need a 2+2 as well. Not a fan of the 456 but a 911 or even an M3 CSL could be on the cards!I will miss it like hell though, especially as they seem to be an appreciating asset at the moment.

defo the best all round

..... I do miss mine even though it's not as dramatic as a FerrariI am a huge fan of the air cooled 911 and would go for either a 993 Turbo or even a late 930, probably the latter if I was honest ... but if I were to change the Ferrari for a 911 in my current circumstances, it would be a 996 purely as they are a more modern car to live with every day and, more to the point, Vicki would get on with it much better
