Stolen Phone :(
Discussion
Just had my phone stolen...whilst at work as well so it is someone that works with me!
Narrowed it down to one of 3 people as we have CCTV to the entrance of the office but not IN the office and only those 3 people have been in the office during the correct space of time.
Really disgusting to think I work with scumbags like this...I have my suspicions as one of them showed an interest in my phone when I took it out of my pocket earlier, but I just saw it as having a genuine interest at the time (since it wasn't a bad phone) but on the CCTV they were also pretty much straight in and out of the office…just enough time to pick up a phone...but I wouldn’t like to call them on it as it may have just been a genuine interest. Also, they may have just been checking on something, or picking something else up. I can't prove otherwise.
Thing is...the phone is now blocked, and has been reported stolen, it can't be used on other networks and is now basically an expensive brick. But the memory card has photos of my GF on, nothing too bad, ones of her dressed up, but nothing actually showing more than a revealing party dress would. Still it’s not the point, I don't want people at work nosing through them, what if they turn up on internet
Even worse is it was not insured! So I have to pay £10 to have a replacement Sim Card sent out, and no guarantee that they will let me have another phone, even if I agree to have my contract extended as it is not due for renewal until June! (have to ring back at 8AM)
Anyway…I know you probably don’t care, but its helped me vent…anyone else got things nicked where they pretty much know who did it but just don't have the proof?
p.s. If anyone gets offered the once in a lifetime chance of buying my phone with the IMEI number 356325020677408 please give me a shout (black Samsung Pixon)

I would get the 3 guys together and ask them, not accuse, if they saw anything/anyone, and if they saw the phone on the desk in the time you were out/they were in the office.
Speak to management (seperately) and tell them you will be informing the police of the theft.
Is your building secure? No public access?
Edit 2.. A few years ago i had some mates round while my parents were away, they brought a guy i didnt know too well along with them. He had a rep for nicking whatever wasnt nailed down. I tried not to leave him unsupervised anywhere, think it was about 5 month later my mum noticed someone had stolen some gold jewellery from a cupboard.

Your phone probably is insured! Assuming you have coverage on your home contents insurance for good stolen outside the home then you should be covered. Also, perfectly possible your office insurance might cover theft. Generally speaking, mobile insurance is a total waste of money as even if you have to add it to home insurance, that is often a far, far cheaper way to do it anyway. Check your contents insurance and your office insurance and you may very well find you are covered.

Thanks for the input guys!
The building is not secure as such, this is for my Night Job (run my own business by day) as a Night Porter at a Hotel, so open to the public. As such the reception is covered by a camera, which in turn covers the door to the office behind the desk. To get behind the desk however you need to either jump it, or get in through another door to the side of it which has a pin-code style lock on it (both desk jumpers and people coming in through door can be seen on the camera)
I will notify managers in the morning (once I noticed phone was gone, no one around but me) however from past experience it will be a, should have been in your locker, response...which I suppose, in all honestly is what a locker is supposed to be for...but rarely used for, everyone puts there phones on the side in the office, including managers.
As I said, have checked the CCTV, only by my self so far, and it can only be one of these 3 people, so rounding them up may be a good idea, if managment go for it. But in all honesty a simple "I don't know" would be all is needed from them before being back at stage 1.
The house insurance is a good idea, and indeed it does cover things stolen when away from the home! However at the moment I have no years NCB (only just moved out this year) and would be worried about the premium shooting up, and then eventually (in a few years time) costing me more than the phone is actually worth, rather than just buying a s
tter for 6 months to get me by.

Is it worth maybe asking them if they have seen it before the shift is over?
Once they leave the building it could end up anywhere. Give them a chance to come clean, say you misplaced it/could of dropped it. One of them *may* have picked it up, intending on handing it in.
Could have, but as of when I noticed they had already left, I was the only person left on site.Once they leave the building it could end up anywhere. Give them a chance to come clean, say you misplaced it/could of dropped it. One of them *may* have picked it up, intending on handing it in.
I think its well and truly gone tbh, the batt was full so unless its dropped off the shelf, turned off the screen lock, pressed the power button to turn its self off and bounced for about 20 miles to somewhere I have not checked, then its gone for good now...

Did you try phoning it?
I'm guessing he tried that and it was off -ymwoods said:

Kind of happy ending to this?
Turns out one of the guys I work with know of the gf pictures and a certain few pictures of me being silly (not car related) and decided to show his friend in the bar. As he picked up my phone I walked into the office and he stuffed it into his pocket and walked out but then completely forgot that he had it.
Woke up this morning (yest morning now) and he went to his coat and pulled it out...
Apparently he was s
tting himself all day too on what I would do (didn't find out until I turned up to work...no phone for them to contact me on
)
Unfortunately for him, the person that told me started the conversation with "He put it in his pocket and went home" at this, I turned, went into the bar and lost it a little bit until all was explained (luckily not to the point of hitting him or anything to lose my job over)
.
Apologised to each other and its sorted now as far as I am concerned.
Got the phone un-blocked, but the Sim card apparently cannot be turned back on, so have another one on order which will be delivered on the 27th Dec. This is going to cost £10, which he agreed to pay...so still without a phone that works, but at least its not nicked!
Silly thing is…if he had asked to see the pictures and show them around I would have just handed him the phone!
Merry Christmas!
