Unusual sights on M8 this morning

Two ununusual sights this morning on the M8 from Newhouse to Glasgow
1. A Police Land Rover Defender - can't remember the last time I saw one of these in Strathclyde and certainly not on the "main drag". Maybe they were reacting to the previous days heavy snow and gridlock heading to Harthill.
2. At the Charing X underpass, two Amey vans on hard shoulder with men scratching their chin! Reason being - loads of icicles hanging down from the bridge, some looking a good foot or two long. Now if they fell through your windscreen, sunroof, or even just onto your bodywork - ouch.
Would love to know what they plan to do to deal with them! But I guess by the look on their faces they didn't quite have a gameplan yet!
