17" 996 wheels on 944S2???

Will 996 allows fit a 994S2?
17" with 225/45/17 ON FRONT AND 255/40/17 ON THE REAR

Not 996 wheels- the offset is wrong.

Boxster wheels fit with no modification (I think the offset is ET 52mm).

I have a 944 Turbo (same hubs) and Bosxter wheels fit fine.

Not sure. When I bought my Turbo they had a set of Boxster wheels on them, but were actually labelled 993.xxx.xxx.xxx.

I think care is required here, but you could always speak to an OPC about the offset for 993 wheels, and if they match the 944 offset yiou will be fine.

My S2 has 17" alloys that have a 996 part code. I'll check the offset on them for you when I get home (Mrs Diver has the S2 today)
