Hello being lurking around on here for a while now so thought id say hi!! Plus im after a bit of advice! Just in the process of shutting the house up ready to get some Zzz in and from outside i hear !!BANG!! look out my window to find another car bumped in the back of mine. So i was just getting some shoes on and i heard him wheel-spinning away in the snow.
I managed to get most of the reg and the make i think!! So whats my next move? do i report them for hit and run although ive only got part of the reg can they do anythink with it. Tbh though its a £200 nail of a daliy hack and if they had of stopped i prob would of said not to worry about it! its the fact that they buggered off and didnt do nowt about it thats kind off annoyed me!

Any adivce would be most helpful!!

Thanks
Oli.

Welcome to PH, and sorry to hear your news. Best advice I can think of after a drop of xmas wine is give what details you have to the police.
Where abouts in the west midland are you and what car was it that hit yours just on the off chance somebody may see/notice anything?

i'd be tempted to run through the possible combinations based on the semi correct reg til you get one that matches, and forget the missing digit, then sue as hard as you can.

Is there anyway i can do that or is that a job that the Police can only do??

go to vehicle enquiry, and try different reg years to see if you have a match

No Hyundais match *942jdw for any of the years A-Y.

C - White Golf
M&T - look like refuse trucks
V - Blue Mondeo
X - Red Scenic
Y - Green Focus

Nothing Grey.

You're best to report it, they can check differently and have a greater chance of success, also you don't want to 'fail to report' just in case.smile

i have a php program that scrapes a certain webpage and records the details (make, model, colour, year, reg)

It only works for current reg's atm (eg xx51 xxx) so will have to reconfigure it for older types. Are you more sure on the "JDW" than the "942" part of the reg as it is quite slow?

Also what model eg saloon was 94-97. This make the search quicker (could be days! - i cant hit this website 1000 times a second or i might be blocked....) as it reduces the possibilities
