My Dad (mechanical enginneer, previous experience of keeping a Mini on the road) is due to retire and is looking for a car to work on. So far, he's quite hooked on a Jaguar SS100. Now the 'original' prices I've seen are a bit steep, but we've come across Suffolk Sports Cars who do an SS100 replica.

Anyone had any experience/ contact with this firm or it's products? Comments good and bad welcome.

Merry Christmas.

I don't have any specific info, but they do have a good reputation. Quite posh stuff really, and I have a feeling they do welll in the States too.

Not quite as posh I suppose as the original - £300,000 for a real example!

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Same as others really, no direct experience. They've been around a long time and very well regarded. Still not cheap but your father will be impressed by the engineering.

There is a piece in the current issue of CKC on the Suffolk. They attend the shows and seem like really nice people.

They have a great reputation and they even supply parts to owners of originals. In terms of cost to build properly it would be similar to a top spec Cobra ie 35k+.

There is loads of info on their website.

My opinion,

Superb engineering quality kit, been around for a long time, makes me wonder if building a GT40 replica was the right decision. Not cheap but they appear to have very good resale values.
