Dont know if this site has been mentioned before but it is well worth a look if you have not seen it before, particularly old "Dick Head" Brunstoms Speeding Guidelines!

The Police Role
Strategic guidance on the role of the police in society is provided through the Police Overarching Aims and Objectives

Statement of Purpose:'To help secure a safe and just society in which the rights and responsibilities of individuals, families and communities are properly balanced'
I'd like Buntersturmfurher to explain how his fixation on speeding motorists properly balances his apparent lack of interest (or at least success) in investigating burglaries. I'm sure the rate-payers in North Wales would appreciate it too.

This has been developed by ACPO following wide consultation, to help deliver the 'Overarching Aims and Objectives for the Police Service', and has the following Strategic Aim:
'To secure an environment where the individual can use the roads with confidence, free from death and injury, damage or fear'
Will someone please drum it into Bundersturmfurher's brain (if a cell dedicated to persecuting motorists can be called a brain) that this "Strategic Aim" is a practical IMPOSSIBILITY and is therefore worthless (even strategic aims should be 'SMART' - this fails the 'ART' elements). In particular, taking away the fear element could only encourage all road users to believe themselves invulnerable ... and contribute to the "blame-culture" now rapidly growing in this country.
