OK. So who else is having to work tonight? On shift until 7am since 7pm last night. Fortunately I'm off until next Thursday and have no intention of even thinking about the place until I return.

7am can't come soon enough as far as i'm concerned.

Not a very good one, then, if you're the sap covering the graveyard shift.

Well, as we cover 24/7/365 someone has to do it. Besides I do get a generous bonus for doing it. I always let the ones with children have the 25th and I prefer Boxing day anyway.

It's just another day to me.

I'm sure you've got a great job Famous Graham, which doesn't involve working long or unsocial hours, so lets insult other people and their jobs, that'll be fun!

No problem what so ever. I just wondered who else was 'the sap covering the graveyard shift.'

Roll on New Year when I have to be back in at 7am New Years Day!

Actually, no. I don't have a job at all. The post was meant as slightly tongue in cheek but I guess folk have become too reliant on smileys to ascertain meaning.

I'm sure you'd agree that it isn't exactly obvious that it's a tongue in cheek comment! I don't think that it's a matter of people relying on smily's but just that your post sounded rather harsh and insulting.

Plus there is a lot of snobbery on here, so without smileys, a few posts simply ARE intended to be harsh and insulting...

Last few years I've been lucky and not had to work over christmas days, but I did my fair share of working christmas days or boxing days and being on call for the nights for very little extra money. Wouldn't go back to that kind of shift work now but glad I did so I can now appreciate being off!

As I mentioned above, I'm out of work at the moment, so hopefully that puts paid to any suggestions of snobbery biggrin I did used to cover Christmas or New Year in an IT role (we took turns each year). Funnily enough though, our team leader was never on call, the conniving witch biggrin

Anyway, apologies if any offence was taken, that wasn't the intent.
