A friend needs help...

Right,
I got a friend with a 2002 318i SE touring with the valvetronic engine.
He has had nothing but trouble with this car since he bought it a few months ago, but he has just found out he has to replace the valve seals.
He has been to a BMW dealers and was quoted around £1100, and when he told me, I said to ask around on Pistonheads as someone would be able to steer us in the right direction,as he doesn't have that sort of money to shell out.
Bearing in mind, he has already spent £1300 with a BMW dealer getting other engine problems sorted, he just wants it done.
Can anyone suggest somewhere in Herts/ N London that might take the job on for less than quoted??
