Hello,
would appreciate some advice please? I have worked for a Local Authority "out of hours" service for twenty years. For the first seven years I worked shifts which attracted an unsocial hours payment and was then promoted and required to work very few shifts due to daytime management responsibilities. I kept my unsocial hours payments (would have been 30% worse off financially than the rest of the team I was managing so would not have taken the job otherwise)Then five years ago I was further promoted and given responsibility for more teams linked to the original "out of hours service" and although not required to work shifts have always done so when the service short staffed.
Throughout this time I have retained my unsocial hours payments at the original level.
My employer now wants me to take on further responsibility for another two teams of (daytime) staff but has indicated that any additional salary will be based on a "flat" rate rather than enhanced rate as previously.Any advice much appreciated? Thank you very much, Steve
