Running my S2 on 99 octane?

Is this ok? I noticed a lot of big pops and bangs when driving it the other week. Is it ok to use 99 octane, or is it mapped for 95, or 97?

Ahhh. I like the pops and bangs, although I did think I'd got something stuck on the car at first.....sounded like a brick or something stuck under the car!

It will only use as many octanes as it needs....if you get my meaning.

Aye. The 99 stuff does make a good sound though. The previous owner was adamant that it ran best on 97 octane Shell Vpower....or Vmax. Summit like that. Problem is, the only Shell garage 'near' me is over on Hull Road. Bit of a trek!

The ECU can be switched to a lower octane rating quite easily which will make the best use of whatever fuel you use: 95 or 97/98.

The instructions are in the bible: basically there is a plug that it switched over to set the octane rating.

I'll get that sorted at SSCC when it goes in for service. Thanks for sharing.
