fuel sender

hi just a quick one i have a ford granada fitted with a ford 4.6 mustang engine it has a mustang fuel pump +sender unit which has 3 wires the granada has 2 how do you get it to work,I've not looked at it yet as i am sorting out the rest of the car first but was told of the problem by the people that fitted thanks for your time
