Hello folks - problem with my x308. The car has, I believe been flooded by someone (not me) starting it and then shutting down in less than a minute. I tried holding down the throttle while attempting to start, buy no dice.

Is my best bet now to remove the plugs and put some oil into each cylinder to get compression?

Thet's the easiset way - constantly turning the engine over on the starter is hard on the motor and battery. Take the plugs out, dry and warm them, check the gaps (1.0mm) a tiny drop of oil from a oil can in each bore will do no harm and put them back. Make sure the battery is fully charged or even better connect two strong ones together with proper jump leads.

If you're lucky the engine will fire as normal. If not continue cranking in one long burst and modulate the throttle until you find a position where the engine tries to start. Keep going until it fires on all eight. Then take the car out for a drive to get it really well warmed up.

If it's flooded I'd changing the oil just in case it's been diluted by the excess fuel.

Thanks steve. I think I'll use a second battery to be on the safe side

Either that or get a mate to take out the fuel pump relay as you turn it over.Pop it in as she fires.
