Having owned various TVRs over recent years, I have to say the best one for me was a 54 plate Tuscan 2 3.6. It was really well sorted and well put together. It handled well, didn't rattle too much, electrics were all perfect - everything always worked, was always on the button, in fact it's the car I regret selling the most out of probably near enough 100 cars over the years. When I sold it, it had done 24,000 miles and was being used daily with no S6 issues at all!

Anyway regardless of how good the T2 was, I always much preferred the looks of the Tuscan 1.

So as I'm seriously considering getting another TVR the question is, can you realistically make a T1 as finished and accomplished as the T2 is? In other words, is it practical to buy a T1 and then re-engineer it/refinish it to the T2 standards?

Cheers guys

Aye aye.....I recognise that name from elsewhere. smile

My 2p might be worth considerably less than that having not driven an Mk1, but I wouldn't swap my Mk2 for a Mk1. I sadly have to part with my Mk2 soon but I wouldn't go for a Mk1 as a cheaper alternative, and given the option I wouldn't try and 'upgrade' a Mk1 to Mk2 spec and I'm not sure it'd be ultimately cheaper than just getting a Mk2.

If you like the Mk1 look, why not look into getting a Mk2 and either having the front and rear shells replaced (assuming it's minor work at most to make them fit), or have the Mk1 light clusters, etc. 'cut and shut' into the existing Mk2 shells? Mk2 tech with Mk1 look........or is it the interior as well?

What are the mechanical diffs between the post Jan '02 Mk1s and Mk2s? I thought it was just the electric PS pump and better dampers. I understand the top wishbone length and geometry was altered from '02 on.

Mainly steering rack toned down from being excessively quick to just rather quick, and new suspension/geometry settings.

Hey Marko, how you doing? smile

I like your lateral thinking there..... food for thought me thinks. You might have to pm me on the 'other place' if you are seriously thinking of selling up.

My Mk1 was an early model and had been an exotic rental and so had had a hard life.
I spent about 18k sorting out the mechanics and had just turned my attention to the the interior when I wrote her off.
After the initial heart ache I was cheered by the insurance payout and finding a superb Mk2 convertible.
It has a much better finish compared to my Mk1.
I love the interior design and quality of finish. The bodywork, panel fit etc. is excellent.

Considering how much I spent I would go with MarkoTVR's suggestion.

Good luck whichever, as you know, they are great cars.
