I liked it very much. Ambience possibly shades the food, but that's not a criticism. It's more "romantic" than "modern" so depends what you want...I thought it was decent value.
At a similar level, Zafferanos is a decent place. Bit more "chic". (Not Covent Garden though if location's key.
Drinks? Depends what you're after. The Waldorf's fine for cocktails and a bit different. Otherwise there's tons of stuff in and around Covent Garden.

There are always better alternatives! 
But it is rather good; you won't regret going.

Thanks chaps. Restaurant reviews are very favourable, but always helpful to get the views of others who have been.
With regard to bars, somewhere where we can chat before dinner preferably not too far from the restaurant (is there a bar there - is not clear from the website?). Not lived in London for a while so a bit out of touch with where's good and where is best avoided.
After dinner, probably somewhere a bit more lively and not necessarily near the restaurant.

There is a bar, but it's small and not really designed for entertaining a number of diners pre-dinner...unless they were just very busy when I went and had converted the bar into an extended dining area (which is possible).
Waldorf is neat for cocktails as mentioned, and quiet enough for a chinwag. Prob 10mins walk or less.
Not sure on post drinks as I normally get out of the centre after eating these days...

Went to Clos Maggiore for our 10th Wedding Anniversary - if you are looking for a romatic meal then you can't go wrong IMHO. We had the Tasting Menu, a bottle of wine and a few bottles of water and it was about £200. Beforehand we went to a bar in Soho and taxi'd it to the restaurant. No real bar there as said. Wine list is as big as a phone book - 2000+ bottles!! Would highly recommend.
Went a couple of months back. Have been before and really enjoyed it, but this time I thought the service was dire.
We both had the tasting menu, but each course (and the matched wines) was plonked in front of us, whereas normally I would expect it to be introduced and the sommelier to give a little spiel on the vino.
Probably a one-off.
I'd also second the suggestion of Le Beaujolais - one of my favourite bars in London!
