Tried the 7d with my 100-400 lens last night, this was shot at F11 and speed 1/20th sec, ISO 100 +remote release.

Liveview zoomed to the maximum is a terrific facility to get almost pin sharp focus in this and also low light photography

With your crop that's effectively a 640mm shot.

Get a x2 on there and you'll have a 1280mm lens

TBH I like the extra reach I get with the 7 compared to the 1:1 I had with the 5D it replaced. I also have a 5D MkII so I think its the best o both worlds :-)
