Just an anonymous survey, it'll be interesting to see if people on here are a generally law abiding lot or not.

My CRB check is very boring. Then again, how do you catch a master ninja? Eh? Eh?

Yes I do. It's I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) by Meat Loaf.
I'm not proud. Stay in school kids, don't be like me.

My enhanced CRB comes up clean, but there was a thing or 2 when I was younger.

However I wonder how many people can claim to have never broken the law?

That's not quite the same thing as a criminal record though... you have to get caught.

A bit like everyone on PH has theoretically got 158 points on their license.

A "criminal record" does not "expire", it's simply treated as "spent" by the Courts when considering punishment for subsequent offences.

As far as the CRB are concerned "the fact that you have had a caution, conviction, reprimand or warning no matter how far back this might be" constitutes a "criminal record".

A simple speeding conviction, no matter how long ago, is a criminal record. Speed cameras have given "criminal records" to hundreds of thousands of people of previously "unblemished character"!

I was once arrested and interviewed on suspicion of burglary. Not guilty (obviously) and nothing further came of it, but a bit scary at the time.

indeed bt rather than typing, yes but under the rehabilitation of offenders act it's spent, I thought yes but ts expired would be quicker.

And by criminal record I mean declareable convictions not NIPs etc.

As I said, my enhanced CRB comes up clean as a whistle. My 3 offences are (without any backstory)

Affray, aged 17, in England. Can't remember the official conclusion but I was 'bound over to keep the peace for 6 months'.

Assault, aged 18, in Scotland. Letter from the Procurator Fiscal offering a fine in place of prosecution.

Speeding, SP30. 3 points, £60 fine.

I was absolutely gobsmacked at the notion of 15%+ of PHers having criminal records.

In fact, I would've been surprised to find out that 15% of the population in general had a criminal record, so I went for a look on the internet. According to this Home Office document, one in three men born in 1958 had a criminal record by the time they were 46.

One in three?????

How the hell can one in three of today's 50yr olds have a criminal record??

As noted above, depends entirely on your definition of "criminal record", and whether you include spent offences and non-recordable ones (like, for example, speeding).
