Sports exhaust, second gear, foot flat, roof off.

Simply bloody glorious.

Why, then, did the guy in his Lexarse GS300 think he could win the traffic light grand-prix? And why at the second set did he try again???

I discovered that the other day when they closed off the elevated section and had to go along the A4 - its marvellous isnt it!

If I have to go out Slough way late at night then that is now the route of choice!

Hey Marshy

Where did you get your sports exhaust? how much was it, and how much of the exhaust did it replace? and just how intrusive has the noise become?

I hate it when Lexus drivers try to masturbate and drive at the same time.

Sometimes people like to see/hear a TVR do it's stuff. Maybe that's why he was doing it.

Bazza: I opted for the middle ground sports exhaust conversion... Offord (near St. Neots, Cambs) will remove the baffles for 120 quid and put it all back together.

You can go the whole hog and get pipes welded through the back box to make it into a straight through job too. I thought my neighbours might start posting dog turds through my letterbox if I did that though.

A few years back I looked at a 450SEAC for sale at a TVR dealers not far from there (gone now I think). The salesman told me about a chap who had come to look at another wedge (400?). They had set off along the A4 for a test drive to get the full sound effect. The salesman was giving it some welly when an alarm started beeping. He immediately slowed down wondering if the car had a problem and, after a few seconds, he looked at the punter and noticed he had gone rather pale and sweaty. The punter explained that it was his pacemaker alarm caused by all the excitement. As you can imagine the salesman backed right off and started to apologise when the punter said 'Any car that can set off my pacemaker alarm is the car for me' He paid cash when they got back ... you have been warned.

Jeff,

That is without doubt the best TVR story that I have ever heard!

Top work!

Bazza

I have a Zertec sports exhaust on my Griff. Replaced everything up to the manifold for under £500 in stainless, which I recon is pretty good, having paid over £300 for a stainless back box on a Saab in the past. 4 tail pipes look the business in my opinion. The noise level goes up, and frankly can get a bit much on a long run down the motorway, but you can now get inserts to quieten things down a bit I believe, when the need arises. With no cat (4.3) there are plenty of flames out the back too, if that is your thing! Well worth it, I reckon. For a start, it will last a lifetime and the sound is FANTASTIC. I think a Chimera version is available too.

cheers Jon, sounds like fun, I however can't get flames because of the Lambda probes adjusting the fueling in my cat'ed Chimaera.

How do those mufflers that quiten the exhaust work?
