retrofit heated seats

Anyone done it?

Brother in law just done it on his VW Bug Cabrio, worthwhile upgrade by his accounnt and the kit is around £60.

Found myself wanting a little more heat a few times, seems like a good idea!!

I guess my biggest concern is making the switches look stock or hiding them...

Biggest problem i would have thought is dealing with the removable seat bases... All Tuscans have these which is why heated seats were never an option.

Now we're talking, a mate of mine is always taking the piss out of the Tuscan for not having heated seats, he has it in his R8, c**t!

if you drive the tuscan like you're supposed to you'll need cooled seats not heated ons

I've got heated leather seats in the main family car and put them on all the time at the moment - mainly to put heat into my decidedly knackered lower back/hip region but also 'cos the seats do feel cold.

But, I've never felt the need for heated seats in the Tuscan - both because the seats suit my back better and because I don't feel so cold - even when the oil temp says -3C

Maybe this has something to do with the quality/type of hide/leather used? To the touch, the Merc's leather feels 'thick', the Tiv's hide feels very 'fine'. Perhaps the hide heats up quicker?

And anyway, as Rens says, there is a simpler way to get the cabin nice and 'cosy'......

point taken regarding driving like your supposed to but...if the missus is in the car i dont drive like i should also, on the commute to work, sometimes its just nice to have to roof off and just take in the experience.

Would have thought you could get round the removable pad issue...

I wonder how effective these would be with the elements mounted under the pad? Or even if you could fit them *inside* the pad, with a small connector for when you're on track and have the pad out?

You've certainly got me thinking now - the lamentable Tuscan heater drives me mad in the winter with the roof off...

How did TVR do that, its the most comfortable car that i have ever driven!
