Where to mount knock sensors?

Hi all,

Putting megasquirt on the car. Would like to fit it with knock sensors, but being an SD1 block, there arent any dedicated bosses on the block for such fitment.

Is there any reason why I couldnt mount them under the upper engine mounting bolts on each side? I'm aware that mechanical shocks tend to get reflected at interfaces (especially where the shock impedances of the materials either side of the interface is different...), but has anyone been successful in running knock sensors on a pre cross-bolt SD1 block?

Be nice to get the ignition map absolutely cock-on.

But good luck as would be a useful feature for self tunning to get max out without damaging anything

Keep meaning to get on and solder the wiring loom up, as now have cleared space in the spare room again but need a few more bits of wire first

Why not weld two bosses onto the block in the same region as the later engines and use those?
