Apparently the boos of the crowd were having a negative effect on the team......

More like the team selection, substitutions and strategy were having a negative effect!

Does 'Megson sacked' really require an exclamation mark?

Aren't his current mob top of the Dutch league? Why give that up for a relegation battle?

Bolton are a weird team. I don't follow them enough to know how different their team is now to when they were finishing 7th or whatever it was but fk me how they have fallen under that bloke.

Ultimately all you can ask or expect from a manager is to get the best out of the players at their disposal, regardless of how limited their ability. Megson has failed to do that at Bolton or any other club he has managed at. You need a manager for a relegation dog fight, here and now, not someone for the future.

McLaren won't go to Bolton - Too much to lose, too little to gain (apart from possibly financially, but then Bolton are hardly in rude financial health) & he said relatively recently that he wants to stay with Twente for the moment and then go and manage in another European league before coming back to Blighty. I've no doubt that would change if a big team came in for him, but this is Bolton!

As for Hughes & whether he would take the job, probably entirely dependent on professional pride rather than anything else. Thing is, as already said, there aren't going to be big club jobs available, so this might be a good short term bet for a bit of reputation repair.
If he doesn't then it is going to be a load of usual suspects - Jewell, Souness, O'Leary, Curbishley etc, most of whom are crap. Outside bet (for a cheap Gartside special) - Iain Dowie laugh

However, I wouldn't like to second guess Phil Gartside as he isn't the most rational of chaps, so who knows who they'll end up with.
