Bit of info regarding AUTOart models please
Discussion
Hey guys,
Santa (or SWMBO for you non-believers) bought me (reading from the box here) an AUTOArt millenium nissan skyline R34 GTR V-Spec II in bayside blue. Now i know nothing about models, it looks amazingly detailed, better than i have ever seen.
My questions are:
Is this a special model that i need to be keeping in a display case or am i making a fuss over nothing and its pretty much run of the mill model that can go on the shelf next to my other couple of car models(nothing special)?
Is it good practice to keep the box it came in?
Would post pics but laptop isn't liking connecting to my camera!
Thanks

Are looking at it as an investment or as something to enjoy?
If investment, keep it in the box, in another box, in the loft out of direct sunlight and out of any chance of damp etc. Touch boring.
Otherwise, just enjoy the model for what it is. Keep the box etc if you want to have somewhere to safely put it when required, but display it so you can see it, not stuck in a box. You actually have a good opportunity to get a display cabinet and more items for your scale garage, as SWMBO, sorry, Santa, started it, so it must be okay!

I bought that exact model for a mate's birthday.
SWMBO is quite right, it certainly wasn't one of those sold for £15!!
However, it is unlikely to appreciate much in value, for that, IMO, you'd need to look at firms like CMC or Amalgam.
Still, very nice model, probably the nicest skyline model without getting a resin kit professionally built, so enjoy it, get a nice wall mounted display case from IKEA (wall mounted so it's more acceptable for her, but make sure you get one that leaves a couple of gaps she'll just have to fill, leading to a bigger case!) and show it off!
If you're into Jap cars then AutoArt are probably the best source, especially for racing versions.

They seem to be rare and expensive.

AUTOart never cast a 993. That will be a UT models , but they are great.
TK Maxx have never sold AUTOart 1:18's , they do however have piles of Solido 1:18's for around £13 and Guiloy 1:18's for around £10.
AUTOart Millenium models vary in Limited runs. Some do come with a certificate stating it's Limited No xxxx of xxxx , others don't.
The R34 GTR Bayside Blue model is worth around £40-£50 , if you had the Midnight Purple which was a very limited run then that would be around £120.
Hope that helps?
P.S The person who mentioned getting a Veyron by AUTOart , go for it! It's one of the best!
