Looking at a house in Crowthorne but I don't know much about the place. Doesn't seem to be much there other than a station, a golf course and Broadmore! I know I can drive to nice restaurants in the area but what about places to walk, what's the countryside like round there, looks very flat? Any nice pubs? scratchchin

Agree with the dodgy locals whistle

Its definatly not the most exciting of places to live and as with all places has its good and bad spots. Where abouts were you looking? (road name) It has a number of watering holes just have 2 look about abit but would not really call any of them brilliant. Its got just about everything you need to get by so dont have to travel to get anything on a daily basis. Its location is quite good and never gets much if any through traffic so no road blocks. (except when tt delivery drivers block the highstreet). Entertainment wise there really isnt alot but have camberleys new cinema 5 mins drive and £20 quid will get you a taxi to reading or windsor. As you said loads of resurants within a 15min drive.

Countryside...hm not great masses of it but a fair number of nice little walking areas...the ridges, crowthorne woods which can lead you into the lookout which is great for walks and really good for a bit of mountain biking. If you have kids there is also taking them to feed the number of swans and ducks in the big pond in wellington college's grounds.

Most imporantly driving roads...none! but can be found a few short drives away.

I have had no bad experiances here of theft, car damage etc or to many teenage chavs, however may vary in others oppinion? Overal most people seem to be friendly enough.

Bunch of chav's driving noisy cars around all hours and are OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER!!! and one was even asked by a BiB is it necessary to DRIVE LIKE A KNOB hehe

Lets not mention the Gay Yellow fraternity or even worse, there is an Alcohol problem in some parts.

But apart from that its not too bad an area getmecoat

I like it.

However lower wokingham road would be much to far from 'the village' to walk to the pub so would cause me significant issues.

Blues is probably the best person to ask as he used to live down that way before he moved closer to town smile

Hi Rich, i live on Old Wokingham Road, but used to be just off Lower Wokingham Road (i suspect xllifts has them confused, and was laughing at the prospect of us being neighbours!)
Give me a call, i think you have my number?. Happy to help out, i've lived in Crowthorne for 15 years, and can share the good with the less than good... but i'm still happy living here

Used to live and work in Crowthorne, quite s nice place when I was there (long time ago)
I lived down near the railway station and then down on a new estate towards Wokingham (was very nice down there, large wooded area with pond for walking around)

I remember the Iron Duke pub was the ruff pub smile

The school wasn't too bad, survived a few years there and even went onto 6th form, left around 1993 I think

Last time I checked two types of people lived in Crowthorne. Retired people, and BA pilots.

My Grandfather lives there, and yes, he is a retired BA pilot.
