Hi People,

I need to transfer some big files from my home pc to a work laptop. I've bought a network card for my pc and connected the two via a crossover cable. Have set two similar IP addresses for the two and the same subnet mask. I have successfully pinged each computer from the other.

However, my problems starts when I to try find the other computer from either one. It finds it correctly, but when I click on the found computer, it asks for a password. I have no idea what this password is, and definitely don't have any on my pc, so wonder where it is expecting it from?

Any help appreciated! BTW, have given both pcs the same workgroup name and am running XP on both. Help!!??!!

if you goto control panel and set up a new user, you'll know the username and password. Just make sure you give that user admin rights and you have given them access to the folder you are sharing.

Ta mate - managed to do it at last after rebooting both machines, sharing files and sticking them on the same workgroup.
