I've never been a fan of being forced to take a week off when it's freezing cold and all the places that you've any inclination to call/visit to sort various things out are either closed outright or "Ah sorry mate the suppliers aren't open until the new year, you'll have to try calling me back then".

Am I the only one who'd sooner just be given the X days to use up when I see fit?

Fortunately I am not forced to take time off during Christmas, although I could if I wanted. But I never bother, for the reasons you state, seems a little pointless. Helps that I can work from home though.

Finally someone feels the same as me. I thought I was mad, everyone thought I was mad for saying I fking hate christmas. I dont hate it because im a miserable so and so but because it ruins business. I left the firm I worked for because I fell out with the boss in early november. Bit stupid I grant you but me and mrs plumber own a cafe so I went to work with her.

Ive never been so skint. You see christmas doesn't just start mid december as you would imagine, it begins in fking october. Everything starts slowing down, people put up with a blocked bog or a dripping tap to save money to spend on st for the 4 hours on the 25th that christmas actually equates to. People stop buying breakfast and lunch so they can buy kira and keanu's fking Xbox. So as you can probably tell I cannot wait to get back to work.

Due to a hectic year this is the 1st time I've had a week off since last christmas, I've enjoyed relaxing but it is also the only time I've felt ill in the year so I've been forced to stay in without alcohol so I am looking forward to retuning to work and normality.

I dont hate christmas, but i'm looking forward to going back to work. Sitting around at home is boring as hell, plus the distinct lack of funds after the christmas period kills the "woo! no work!" mood slightly!

Shouldn't this thread be in the Jobs and Employment section?

Not me, I'm self employed so these two weeks are usually the only holiday I get during the year.

Yes fed up with it all now...

Keep forgetting what day it. Eating for the sake of it. Slowly turning nocturnal. Not getting paid (the joy of self employment) and no other bugger working either!!

I would have thought one emergency call-out on Christmas day and you could take the rest of the winter off? hehe
