Hi all,

Has anyone any info on the likely availability of the GM LS7 crate motor. Reading a yank press release seemed to gesture at limited numbers available. Sounds utterly stupid to limit a product which created this kind of interest/demand. Unless there's a limit to the number of engines they can produce for aftermarket use. Parts world performance are offering the motor for 8,400. Has anyone had experience with these guys?

The engine has been available for quite some time and from a variety of sources. I've seen no indication that it is in short supply.

If you mean the lot in Cannock I bought an LS3 motor from them

Given that they assemble the LS7 by hand at only one site, let alone the one technician per engine thing, there must be some finite limit.

I'm not sure the demand for crate ones is huge, as they are twice the cost of a 'normal' LS lump. For higher power outputs there are so many other options that work out better value.

They do come up secondhand too. I was offered one for about £5K a few months back.

Why not just build an engine inestead, or have one built ? You could probably build better than a standard LS7 for the same money.
