Just setting about recovering my targa panel (and rear hood). When i removed the old canvas from the targa, the fiberglass panel isn't the same both sides. The passenger side has a pointed front corner which drops down the side of the windscreen piller about 10-15mm more than the driver's side. Has anyone recovered one and come across this or is it just mine?

Before I recovered mine a few years ago I wasn't happy with the shape as over time it had become bowed. I ended up cutting the box sections in a few places placing some bricks on it and fibreglassing it back up. I also had to alter the corners to get the profile looking the same along the window line. Nothing is perfect on the Wedge so before you alter the roof make sure the shut of the doors, window adjustment etc is as good as you can get it before altering the roof to match. Cheers SteveHi
Yes the car is a 400SE. It's all a bit strange because the passenger side seems to curve down lower towards the window glass (this side has the pointed bit that runs down the windscreen piller). I thought about making a template of the passenger side and reworking the driver side to match, however the new targa material wouldn't be quite long enough if i did.

I have just put on a new hood. My targa panel didn't sit flush with the windscreen. I got round the problem by gluing in 1/4 scrim foam to the front before covering the taga panel which now butts up nicely against the top of the screen
I also had cut down both sides to allow the seams to fit nicely. One tip though - dont glue the fabric to the entire panel just glue the fabric to the inside edges and trim afterwards...

hi john
didn't even notice whilst i owned the car that there was a difference . I have checked current 400se and both front corners curved to windscreen.
looking forward to seeing the pic's of the car complete, did you get the dash fitted and i still have to get the small strips to you for the doors.

Hi Stephen
yes i've done the dash and it looks superb see photo(still haven't refitted it to the car as thats in my Dads garage). It was a lot easier than my previous wedge which involved sourcing the veneer, removing all the clocks/wiring (350i), making the panels, cutting out the instrument holes and then 'trying' to get some sort of decent finish using laquer!
Re the targa, i have built up a 'point' on the driver's side to match the other side, when i have given it ia final shaping i'll see if the new material will fit!
