Cleaning out a turbo\unsticking vanes
Discussion
Hi Guys
New guy in town, please go easy on me!
I to have the ever popular limp mode issue with my Golf TDi 130 when cruising on the motorway. Having done plenty of reading on this subject I would like to have a go at cleaning out my vanes before start going to the expense paying labour for diagnoses and replacing parts.
Question is can it be cleaned out in situ with an additive or spray or is it a case of taking it off and stripping it. The latter frightens me to death, when it comes to lifting the bonnet I am not blessed with any skills other than checking the oil. Any advice you can share is appreciated.
Cheers

Most turbo vanes get clogged up due to serious under usage such as short journeys.
You could try some additive accompanied by several high speed runs.....however, seeing that the vanes are stuck and you cant get up to speed leave a bit of a chicken & egg scenario!
A turbo is nothing more than an exhaust driven pump.
No witchcraft involved (no matter what J. Clarkson says).
It is simple enough to remove and clean if you know what you are doing, but if you are worried try contacting these guys: http://www.turbotechnics.com/docs/news/vnt_clean.h...
Good luck.
