TVR body for race car

Hi guys,

I’m in the process of building a prototype race car to be used for sprints and hill climbs. By coincidence, the Chimaera body dimensions are remarkably close to what I need. Ive had a go at making a fibre glass body myself, but im thinking about cutting my losses and modifying a GRP road car to suit.

Dimensions wise, the Griffith and Chimaera body are of similar size, however the Griffith’s seem to fetch more money so im leaning towards the Chimera idea.

Does anyone know where I should enquire about minor crash damaged shells, or even replacement panel specialists etc? Ideally, the front will be a single piece, are these available already, alternatively, i'll build from the individual panels.

I was also wondering if anyone in the Edinburgh area would be willing to meet up with their Chim and take a few measurements?

YHM, can certainly help with a 1 piece chim front end and a fastback style hard top if you fancy

That picture is quite old, the car is now finished bar bodywork.

talk to plastic man he will probably be able to make up whatever you want poss even a light weight version

You should get the moulds of the original Speed 12 and dump that ontop. It'd certainly scare the opposition with its looks!

So basically, if you build you own chassis, you can still get TVR bodywork made? So effectively you can still build your own TVR?

There is aTVR breaker in Bedlington (north of Newcastle) with a number of damaged shells

If you are still looking for a Chimaera/Griff to measure up by next weekend, there is a TVR car club meeting in the Broom Hall castle in Menstrie on sun the 10th at 12:30 there should be a few you can measure.
