<sticks head in door>

Hello....

I am looking to get a new (used) car in the next few months.
My current short list includes a RR. I am not looking for anything too new, as this will be used as a work vehicle, to carry the dogs and such like.

So, I am thinking of a 2004 (ish) Range Rover.

Ideal would be a diesel of some kind. I dont mind about MPG etc (only do about 3000 miles a year) and I do have road DERV on stock at work so it makes life a lot easier if its DERV.

What are my options? What should I avoid?

Looks like there are lots of reasonable cars out there, but prices vary a lot. What are the specs on the various models, Vogue, SE etc? Was there a face lift in 05?

What are running costs like? Having never really ran a RR before ( the nearest thing I have at the moment is a Nivara) I am not sure what the costs are.

TIA!!

A 2004 would be the 3.0 BMX straight 6 a bit gutless in the rangerover. Unless you can boost the budget to get a much better TDV8. Have you thought about a discovery 3 or a RRS the TDV6 is better but still not as good as the TDV8

I dont really like the RRS for various reasons, and for this vehicle it will probably not get used enough to justify the extra 10k.

I much prefer the proper RR. Again cant jusify the 30k for the TDV8.

So that leaves me with the TD6. I cant say I have a big problem with it as I have enough fast cars wink and my Nivara only has 170bhp and is probably a good 2000kg so similar to the RR... and I could get it remapped if I thought it was really slow.

Prob looking to spend £15k.

Can anyone tell me what servicing costs are etc?

For this money I'd probably look at a Disco 3 or more likely a nearly new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited CRD. £15k would get you an almost new top spec Sahara. It'll be rarer and cooler than an RR, albeit more of a proper off roader than the Rangie.
