Hi all,

Without seeing them, a chap gave me his card today and asked for some of my shots.

Was taking a walk around Dalkeith Country Park as the snow fall last night was a beautiful back drop - will get some pictures up soon.

Anyway, the Estate Manager gave me his card and said he would like to use some of the photos. Said i would email him some but how do i go about doing it?

Do i put watermarks all over them or do i just send them to him and hope to get some exposure?

Woza.

I would ask for a picture credit, be proud and show your freinds your work

This suddenly made me feel very "homesick". Lived in Bonnyrigg for 6 years, before moving abroad and then to south of England now.

Dalkieth Country park was a regular destination to get the kids (as toddlers) out for a walk and fresh air. Do they still have the oversize chair and bike sculptures? There was some talk of a road being put through the park, has that been killed off?

Sorry, destroying the thread, agree with first reply... ask for your name to be credited, but take the compliment.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane (and hope the photies are good)

Cheers

Stuart

Personally I'd watermark samples and add a note saying if he wanted to use any you are happy to send the original high-res minus watermark providing you're credited. This way at least you'll be kept in the loop if the photos are going to be used, and you won't just be adding to his catalogue for use at a "later date"

i take pictures purely for my own pleasure, i was asked to provide some for a magazine a few years ago.. i knew the people writing the magazine (to talk to) so when they said my name would be printed with them i was happy to provide them..

I'd also add that you want to know when and how he was planning to use them, and if it was for commercial use then you would need to discuss an appropriate fee before providing the high-res copies.

I've been burned by this - shared some photos I took at a trackday and the next thing I know the company to whom I had sent them had used my photos in their adverstising brochures and in a full-page ad in Autosport. No credit and no payment. Won't be making that mistake again.
