10 inch rims on the rear

Has anybody successfully fitted 16 x 10 inch rims on the rear of a Griff ? Am currently running 17x9 at the standard et 32 offset. They work OK with 245 width rubber, it looks as if there is just about room for another inch inside. Ideally I want to go to a 9 or 10 inch 16 rim. Anybody tried that ? Ideally I would stick with the standard offset so the extra width is shared equally inside and out.
