A set of tyres is £22k...... Hate to think of what a major problem would cost
...and you'll need to get the car to France in order to replace themSo that left 4 people guarding a Veyron with no wheels that was sat in a locked compound for 4 days. Easy money for them, and a nice cash filled envelope of thanks at the end of the stint as well.
However that was 2006 so things may have changed.
Knowing the service levels of Bugatti to their customers, I'd be genuinely surprised if each time they needed new tyres they needed to get the car back to Bugatti. Ok, the wheels slightly less so.
Back in 2006 perhaps the infrastructure was slightly less than it is now - but even so, can you imagine US / Middle-Eastern / Far-eastern customers having to send their wheels to France for a tyre change?
If that's the case, I'd expect as a minimum Bugatti to come and take the wheels then bring them back a week later, for example.
I'm not saying this to appear arrogant, far from it, simply that my brief discussions with owners and their talk of the, simply, unwavering service levels that Bugatti offer would surprise me somewhat if they did indeed have to send their wheels half way around the world.

They had no problem with it, but it was very soon after Veyron's were first delivered and managed to puncture both drivers side wheels while arsing around. I think they just used one of the other Hypercars in the garage. Or the Helecopter.
Fair enough! Would be surprising it Bugatti (now) didn't have an ability to change tyres in, for example, UAE. Or, more likely if it's a special process in the factory, have spare sets lying around for the inevitable "it must be fixed now" phone call.
I don't think tyre foam would cut it

The people i used to work for had a couple of Veyrons, and some of my co-workers ended up guarding one when it was having it's tyres changed, the car stayed in the UK, the wheels went to France.
So that left 4 people guarding a Veyron with no wheels that was sat in a locked compound for 4 days. Easy money for them, and a nice cash filled envelope of thanks at the end of the stint as well.

I have this mental picture of 4 heavies in black suits and dark glasses, stood at each corner of a Veyron up on bricks trying to look serious and threatening...

How long do a set of tyres last?
Every 2500 miles! It's totally ridiculous - it's the only thing stopping me from chopping in my Impreza TBH. Well, that and the fact that there's not enough nasty grey plastic on the Veyron's dashboard...
Apparently NOTHING goes wrong with them. The only mechanical failure I heard they've had in the UK is a malfunctioning sonar (!) fuel guage sensor which meant the owner kept running out of fuel. Bugatti couldn't fix it and apparently the car had other problems too.
By way of apology, Bugatti upgraded the owner to recieve the first Grand Sport. That's a £400K upgrade so that's quite some apology.
Oh and yes it's true. In the UK, only the Bugatti factory can apparently change the tyres so they have to be sent back!
