i take it its a e46 m3?, answer you dont this time of year, but on dry roads in the summer, turn traction off, yellow ligh appears on dash, select s mode from gear lever, then on smg mode display another box appears, s6, now press smg selector, behind gearstick up to s6

I also think you have to be in manual mode and not "D".

Select manual
Switch traction off
6th setting should be there

Afaik, the only reason you would wanna do that is to access the launch control feature

or iff you want to drive without DSC and have the benefit of faster changes. Personally, not being a driving god, except where there are benign wide run-of areas, I'll stick to MDM and S5.

Erm, the programmes are numbered in speed order from 1 slowest to 5 fastest (then 6 in manual mode). A5 and S5 should shift at the same speed. The difference is who shifts - you or the gearbox.

I tried S6 once in my M3, off the traffic lights, all i managed to do was lay a 30 ft long set of black lines. I went back to S5 after that

Oh, hell no! Just saying if I am correct, why not just ask how to acces the launch control feature smile But since Zod already stated that there indeed are other reasons one would want to access the S6 my post is rendered irrelevant smile

Launch control is fking ace, sometimes i wish they included a "civilised" version of it too, since this one is like detonating a hand grenade in public.
