Anyone here own or have owned a 456?, looking to buy my first Ferrari, but whilst Id love to buy a 328/355 it would get more use as a summer car for the family to use (1 5yr old son means 2 seats are not that handy), therefore I may be better off with a 4-seater.
Are these good fezza's?, expensive more than others to run, service?, also, are they quick, do they roar like most other ferraris, whilst they look more sedate and tranquil I wonder if they drive the same?
Thanks

The 456s are fantastic cars. Great family cars to. I took my whole family across Europe 3 years ago for 8 days. The one i used was the GTA edition and it suited me to the ground. Plenty of room in the rear seats for the kids and or short adults.
I like the dark colours with cream interiors personally. As for the noise, with after market systems on like Tubis (the one i used had Tubis). They sound bloody mighty at bellow 3,000rpm, but they never sound as good as other Ferraris in the higher regions of the RPM range.
The good thing is that the belt servicing on these cars are easier than say the 355, the engine stays in the car.

For what it's worth, I've test driven a 456 GT and wasn't massively impressed. Don't get me wrong it was a great car, but I used to have a Maser 4200 and it reminded me of that. BUT, the interior wasn't as nice as the Maser's, the seats not as comfortable and there seemed to be less space. I also prefer the Maser's V8 (which seems to be universally adored) to the Fezza's V12. Also, the gearing in the Fezza was to long for me, made the car feel a tad lazy.
Now, for god's sake don't get a 4200 over a 456, as the handling on the 4200 is just not even in the same ball park!! But, def consider the 4200's successor, the Gransport. Same engine (even improved a bit), but with the handling sorted, even better on the inside and even prettier on the outside. If you can get on with the paddleshift gearbox in it and wouldn't kick yourself for not having a Ferrari open gate, you'd be onto a winner. If I had to spend up to £40k on an Italian GT car, it's the Gransport I'd get.
All IMHO
